As a Lead Capacity Planner you will work for the Head of Capacity Planning. This Lead Capacity Planner role is a key role and ensures the company’s IT infrastructure is sized to accommodate all business and corporate requirements.
This Lead Capacity Planner role is vital in ensuring that the cardholders of over 380 million cards across Europe, and over 1 billion worldwide, experience a faultless payment experience with their cards, as well as ensuring that the downstream clearing & settlement systems are able to settle over €1.5 billion of transactions on a daily basis.
Lead Capacity Planner Key Accountabilities
- Be accountable for the production and maintenance of the IT Capacity Plan, including the incorporation of Networks and system capacity requirements
- Identify all requirements for the Infrastructure for the next 2 years, ensuring that projects are identified, raised, and completed prior to the additional capacity being required
- Manage the Capacity Planning team (currently 3 other members), including line management duties
- Work with the other members of Engineering Services for the delivery of Engineering solutions into projects
- Maintain the strategic relationship with TeamQuest (providers of the Capacity & Performance Management tool)
- Ensure that all IT infrastructure is sized appropriately
- Assist with the preparation and reporting of performance tests on the key parts of the IT Infrastructure
- Represent Engineering Services within projects, and ensure that all requirements are identified
- Chair the Data Centre Governance forum, ensuring that power is allocated to key projects, and that data centre limits are identified and reported against
- Coaching and mentoring less experienced members of the team
Lead Capacity Planner Essential Criteria
- Experience of a Capacity Monitoring and planning role recently undertaken at a Senior level in a high availability, open systems environment, producing plans and metrics to enable procurement and expansion planning
- Performance testing knowledge on Unix platforms, with experience of Sun Enterprise, IBM p-Series, and Linux servers (including virtualized servers)
- Performance testing knowledge of Windows environments, including VMWare
- Knowledge of DB2 and Oracle databases in relation to performance & capacity management techniques
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar with ITIL principles, qualified to at least Foundation level (ideally with ITIL 3 knowledge)
- Experience of high availability (24/7/365), high profile, environments
- Capable of liaising with technical and non-technical staff in an appropriate manner
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, including to board (CIO) level
Desirable criteria
- Good knowledge of payment processing service preferable
- Previous Financial Services experience preferable
