Job Description:
The role is to take on the Team Leader function for the current Team who support the deployment and configuration of released code into this leading financial organisation.
The Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring the internal resources are available to meet requests, whilst ensuring all project enhancement work is completed on time. The team is high visibility project within the business and the Application Project Support Team Leader will need to be able to make their voice heard and ensure the team pre-requisites and requirements are met. The Team Leader will need to take responsibility and ownership of their direct reports and aid / support them where necessary and the role requires the candidate to have a real passion for making things happen – in a constructive way across the team and organization.
Main responsibilities include:
- Driving the Application Project Support Team requirement’s for the project, and ensures all details are captured and escalated if required.
- The candidate will need to have the ability to operate confidently and comfortably at senior levels within the business to ensure the team is always included in the decision making and architecture discussions.
- Liaise with Vendors and onsite experts to ensure they are kept in the loop of all relevant discussion.
- Experience of IBM WAS 6.1 running on AIX 5.3.
- Ensure that the team has all the requirements to apply packaged code to Production and NON Production environments.
- Good working knowledge and appreciation of UNIX is required.
- Being able to liaise in written and verbal form with peers and other areas of the business is an important function.
- Ensuring that all defects within the Code and Deployment process are raised and track appropriately.
Key, Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Sound knowledge of IBM Websphere Application Server and configuration.
- Strong knowledge of UNIX (Solaris and AIX) platforms inc HACMP.
- Good understanding of WAS Cell configuration and Deployment Managers.
- Experience of bespoke distributed network applications.
- A good understanding of ksh and Jython Scripting language (Ants language is a nice to have)
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with a service orientation
- Being able to drive process enhancements and liaise with the businesses architecture group to ensure the strategy is being adhered.
Desirable Criteria
- A methodical approach to investigation into Shell Scripting errors and UNIX Operating System issues is required.
- Network protocol and DB2 appreciation
- Familiarisation with ITIL
- MQ
- Tivoli ITM6 knowledge
- Connect:Direct
- Enterprise Management technology, ie; BMC Patrol P7, PEM, Interlink BES are all nice to haves.
