As a 1st level Open Systems Operator you will work as part of a 24x7 rotating shift structure, you will have 2+ years experience of 1st level UNIX monitoring, diagnosis, and problem investigation in a large financial organisation, operating on a UNIX platform within in a high availability, data centre environment. You will be willing to work in either Basingstoke Hampshire or Greenford, Middx. You will have the opportunity to develop in UNIX and the associated hardware/applications. As 1st Level Open Systems Operator you will manage a large financial company’s primary services, across 2 data centres. Provide first level diagnosis and resolution of problems. Maintain Customer Service standards by ensuring communication with customers are pro-active, polite and informative. Ensure all Incidents records provide an accurate log of events, are assigned to the appropriate area for follow up/resolution. Validate all change records, add/refine technical scripts to ensure technical scripts are accurate; and approval has been gained prior to implementation where appropriate. All Infoman and Remedy tickets records must adhere to the appropriate guidelines technical documentation manual. Ensure all escalation and reporting criteria are performed in a timely and concise manner as dictated in operational procedures. Ensure that all regional service levels are understood and adhered to. You will have 2+ years UNIX (Solaris or AIX are ideal) Operations experience with a thorough working knowledge of UNIX and the ability to raise and prioritise incidents using Remedy and Infoman. Effective approval and instigation of Change Control using Remedy and Infoman. Familiarisation with ITIL methodologies, including Service Desk and ISO 9000 quality system, would be an advantage. Experience in any of the following would be useful TPF, high-level understanding of Connect: Direct, XCOM, Informix, Oracle, DB2, Sybase and Internet working protocols and topologies, proficiency in the use of all Windows based workstations and applications, Tivoli TEC, Control-M Enterprise Manager (As used on Windows NT).
